Good to bring Old stock alive again.
You almost have to get these to bring back P2K older stock you might buy or have to life. The gears in these types of locomotives are almost certain to be bad. these will not be. MADE FROM GOOD PLASTIC. Then buy the gears to replace the gears from the wheels you take out. ( rebuild them) Then you have a replacement set ready to go for your next engine you buy or have. And the beat goes on.

I replaced the wheel assemblies on one of my oldest Proto 2000 GP7 which I purchased in the mid 1990's. It had been running a bit noisy and even though I had cleaned and lubricated the unit. Parts fit as intended. No need to assemble the wheelsets. All you have to do is open the bottom of the model gearbox you wish to replace axle gears, and simply remove the original gently and place these new ones in the model. Make sure to apply new lube and grease before closing it back up!

Proto 2000 replacement gear wheelsets
These are replacements for early models where the the gears shrunk. So in essence it’s necessary if you want your models to function. It’s really an easy fix so I’m quite pleased with the new gear wheel sets.

Replacement gear sets
The replacement wheel sets help with poor plastic used in the original sets. Split gear hubs cause loose stub axles that can contact each other inside the hub causing a short circuit at the rails.

Perfect fix for Proto 2000
I have three Proto 2000 locomotives from the mid to late 1990’s. When I got them out of storage and tried to run them they all clunked. I learned that gears on the split axles tended to crack. I replaced all of the wheel sets and the locomotives run like new.
