It tends to stick when using the key. I thought the price was fairly highly priced for the product. I would expect approximately $25-$30 range. I purchased it because I could find an alternative that would fit my truck.

I bought this for use on my 1994 Ford Ranger. Unfortunately, I did not read the reviews prior to this purchase. The Good: It is relatively easy to install. The instructions are simple and easy to follow. The lock is made of metal and is relatively sturdy. After I put it on my tailgate the tailgate continued to open and close as it should, so no problems there. Why I gave this two stars: First, the locking mechanism doesn't turn 100% of the way because the locking arm isn't long enough. If it was just slightly longer, there would be no issue. But I will have to get some help to make this $60 lock actually function. Second, it doesn't sit 100% flush to the tailgate like it should. If someone really wanted to break into your truck, it is likely they could use tools to break the lock because of the way it sits. Overall this is a sturdy, decent quality lock that probably won't fit your truck without some adjustments.Read full review

So I like this as a lock for those Ford Ranger tailgates. If you have an OEM tail gate you probably will not have to mod the sheet metal around the lock cylinder itself. We are using one of those reproduction tail gates in a Smyth Truck build so we did have to use a body saw to open up more of the sheet metal around the cylinder to make it work.... Not a problem for us but it could be a problem for a novice installer....

Seemed to be a lot more money than what it should have been but I needed something to lock my bed. I installed it following the instructions and a YouTube video and it seemed to go well but when I tried to lock it, it wouldn't lock. I took it off and re-installed it numerous times and finally got it to work. Not sure how long it will last though.
