Solid, intuitive product
I bought this for live playing and it works well. It is easy to set up and can be synced simply with MIDI devices such as loopers. The software is straightforward to use and the drums sound great when run directly into a mixer or PA. There's definitely a learning curve, but it's not hard to get good beats straight out of the box. This thing has a great sound and is very easy to use, with a bunch of pre-programmed beats, intros, fills, and outros. You can select the sound of the "kit" you want to use. This can easily be used at a live performance. The Beat Buddy uses a memory card. great machine but terribly difficult to customize
I like the functions and it sounds like real drums....BUT, the editor is very weak. Also, the mapping of the BeatBuddy's midi is not standard so you must learn to remap all the midi; which is really time consuming. Another gripe for me is the lack of many styles of music. It seems they just care about getting you to buy their "Premium Content" stuff. Its a great machine but you better be happy with 80's -90's rock or be good at creating your own drum patterns on another audio workstation. I'm keeping mine in hopes I can find time to learn how to edit patterns on Reaper or something. So far I have gotten nowhere with midi mapping and arranging.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Could be a bit more consumer friendly for the "casual" user. Like labeling the grooves after specific example songs such as: Back in Black instead of Rock 4/4 or Evil Ways instead of Latin 2. Boom Chick, Boom Chick for Country 1. You get the drift. Real world descriptions would be infinitely more helpful to the musical "layman" and increase your marketability and use.
