However, if you are out in the wilderness and need to rely on your fire starter - this is probably a good investment.

It works fine. It's expensive for what it is but it's cheaper than buying a "waterproof" lighter. The cap can loosen a bit in your pocket. It doesn't have a very positive "click" when you push it on. However it's only come off in my pocket once or twice in a year.

This lighter case seems like it will withstand anything and protect a lighter from anything that would affect the performance of a Bic lighter. I bought this specifically to protect the lighter from water so that it will be available in emergencies The cap fits very snugly so it's not something you're going to be putting on and taking off all the time. Would a zip seal bag provide as much water protection? Probably, but it wouldn't look nearly as cool as this case does.
