Excellent regulated power supply for mobile/base 2 meter transceiver. I bought it to power my Yaesu FT2900R 2 meter ham rig, and it's a perfect mate.
This is the ideal power supply unit for the Yaesu FT2900R transceiver. You get plenty of clean power that allows you to transmit at full power of this radio. Most of the time you will not be running the full power when transmitting on the two meter ham band, but this compact companion power supply allows you to run a small radio station with confidence. You can use this power supply to operate the FT2900R at 75 watts of RF transmission power without overtaxing the PSU. It has a demand only cooling fan that runs so quiet I can barely tell when it runs, and since the FT2900R has no fan, the white noise generated by this combination of equipment is phenomenally low. Except for the pilot light in the power switch you will not know it is operating. I put my FT2900R and this FP1023 in a Samlex cabinet and it is nearly bullet-proof, compact and easily moved from one place to another - really great for operating on the 2 meter band on the go without giving up the versatility of a setup that can operate mobile or as a base station. This is my second 2 meter station, ( the other is a pair of Baofeng UV5R+ hand held dual band transceivers for portable 5 watt transmitting power for working contacts via a repeater to make long range contacts. But with this power supply and the FT2900R I can work contacts at much longer ranges. If you need a small form factor power supply unit that can deliver 23 amps consistently at 13.8 volts DC current, this is a great unit and will last you for years of faithful service. This one is an earlier model with screw terminals for the outputs but the more recent manufactured FP1023s come equipped with the popular Andersen Power Pole connectors.
