If you have a typical 240V electric dryer with a 5200W heating element, then be aware that the Thermal Cutouts in the non-OEM kits that I received were only rated for 10-Amps (10A) instead of the necessary rating of 25A. As a result, the 10A cutout overheats and trips off/open resulting in no dryer heat. You can find the wattage rating of your element stamped on the frame of the heating element (after it is removed from the heat duct), and a typical 5200W, 240V heat element will draw about 22A -- more than twice the rating of the non-OEM cutout in the non-OEM kits. The non-OEM Thermal Cutouts are generally distinguishable by the white color of the body (versus black or dark brown for the OEM cutouts), and the non-OEM cutouts are specifically marked as "10A" rated. Also be aware that these non-OEM kits are sold under the exact same P/Ns as the OEM kits (279973/kit or 8318314/cutout), so just ordering the right P/N does not assure your success. Many aftermarket parts work fine, but in this case, pay the extra and buy the OEM parts.Read full review
