PLOT: Navy Cipher Bureau discovers an Oriental Spy Code. 1938....a suspicious man is casing federal buildings soon he is bumped off before he can be interviewed but he carries an oriental "code" message that ends up with the Cipher Bureau. Head of the Bureau is Major Waring (Leon Ames) and his secretary /fiancé Lane quickly breaking the code. The message leads to an Oriental Shop which is one hide out of the Asian Spy ring. Waring escapes the spy ring and is soon following more clues. Lane discovers they have their own troubles....a "spy" in the Cipher Bureau and ends up kidnapped by him but using her brain leaves a "clue" for Waring to find her. This is a very good mystery and spy movie. FOLLOW up to Cipher Bureau. the Waring and Lane are a great duo and only made two in this series.Cipher Bureau is the first and Panama Patrol is the second of the two.
