Beautiful device, nice idea, but it doesn't work anymore
I've run this on a first gen Surface running Windows 10, and even downgraded to 8.1. Surface recognizes it, but it doesn't work with the single app it was built for. It was never broadly sold, and perhaps it's just not very stable. I had high hopes....Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

New, but DOESN'T work with Any Surface any more
This item is new, however, keep in mind that there are issues for this cover to working with systems newer than Windows 8 ver 9200. All you will get is plug in this cover, it lights up, and that's all. Software works with Windows 10, Keyboard doesn't.
The keyboard is very cool, but on a Surface Pro 1, the keyboard flashes once but doesn't work. It's sad, because the software works...even looks like it may have been updated this year. So this doesn't work anymore it seems, but I'm holding out hope that someone figures out how to patch the system so it will work. I was hopeful the blade concept would take off, and they'd figure out a way to make double-sided blades; on one side, a traditional keyboard, and the other, a unitasker, like the music blade.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

It does work with Windows 10!
Unlike the other review, I had no problem at all using this with my Surface 2 Pro running the latest version of Windows 10. After snapping the keyboard onto the tablet for the first time, I had to wait about 2 minutes for the drivers to install and for the Surface Music Kit app to install. After that, I ran the app and everything worked perfectly. It is important to know that the app and the keyboard are symbiotic; one can't really exist without the other. They were designed to work together; no other software will work with the keyboard and I think licensing the app is physically tied to having the keyboard. So I thought I would give impressions of the app as well as the keyboard, since it's the only app for which you can use it. I only got to play with the app for an hour so far, and I'm no music expert, but I found this keyboard attachment very intuitive to use with the app. The app itself has a limited amount of loops, but enough to mix and remix sounds, experiment with tempos, and other fun music creation stuff that's above my ability. You can also import sound files to use as loops when you get tired of the stock loops. And, just as importantly, you can export your creations as MP3 files. Bottom line - great keyboard, great app, works in Windows 10!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
