i7-3540m Laptop Upgrade
This is the fastest processor that HP installed 8470p Elitebook (there's is a "w" model with different specs). There is an error in the HP service manual for the 8470p describing the CPU as quad core, but the CPU is only dual core. The CPU was easy to install, and the original processor has residual value in low-mid $20s (i-5 CPU).

Highly Valuable in 2018
The 3840 is a solid processor - competitive to many modern CPUs, even in Q2 2018. It’s not as power efficient, but, many computers that run this lithography (especially by Lenovo - T430, T530) don’t suffer throttling that affects performance, thermal or otherwise.
