Generally reliable with half-decent battery life
this phone usually works. If it is not functional, I give it a break and then restart. changing orientations from vertical to horizontal is sometimes non-responsive for the screen. Its small screen size means it can be challenging to text with or choose links that are small. The battery life is somewhat better since I replaced battery. iPhone 5s review in a nutshell
This phone does have a lot of features, it does have good reception when it comes to making phone calls and the touch-screen is very responsive compared to others however if you want to transfer music and videos from your PC to this Phone that's when it gets a bit complicated....For one thing, this phone doesn't have a slot for you to connect a memory card into like other phones....with this phone in order to connect with your PC you have to connect it via the regular lightning to USB cable that comes with it then you're forced to register with iTunes and zync your phone with it. iTunes is sort of like the PC "driver" for the iPhone. It's the interface for this phone, handles your music, videos and pretty much any media. Without iTunes you can't really transfer files from PC to phone or vice versa. Some features within iTunes are complicated to use and for some reason sometimes when you drag files from your PC to your phone, like music files and disconnect from iTunes sometimes your songs disappear from the phone which makes it very frustrating. I had some songs and ringtones disappear from the phone after disconnecting from iTunes for some reason. Iphone 5s best phone for the value
Bought in 2017 used with little expectation, but has been 2 month and I love it. More than I can expect and I can do with the phone. Works every time, I get 100% battery in the morning, listening music all day long and by 5.00 P.M. is about 20%, but..it is ok for me. Plus I can txt or call any time of the day to my contacts. (I don't really call all day long neither watch videos) but works for me. Good value for an old phone. Has done the work for me. Great phone for young users
This is our second iPhone 5s we got for each of our teenage kids. Their young eyes and restricted needs make this version a good fit. They still get the Touch ID entry but beyond that, only requests are mobile games and messaging apps (Instagram, Snapchat, etc). This one was a little scuffed on corners but unnoticeable once protective case was used. Low overall volume and weak antenna signal make for less than robust phone service but minor concern for our text & video preferred kids. Was not entirely surprised that the phone was not in as great of shape as the description suggested. It was not working perfectly, but for the price & my purpose, it meets the need. The one thing warned about was the battery. I have experience changing them out, so wasn’t concerned. It actually was in great condition — no bulge & holds a long charge. Of the other things “functioning properly”… the screen has a weird fogginess to it (maybe a couple lines out?), and the phone regularly freezes where the sleep button needs to be pressed & then woken back up to continue. Small, fast, & takes great pictures
I bought it for my wife because of the great pictures mine takes. Apple lets you install Chrome and Google Maps and other mail clients, but doesn't make Siri work with them. It's great hardware, and decent software. Now that I have IOS 10.3.1 it's letting me uninstall some of the crap apps it came with. I bought this to replace a three year old 5s that was still working, but was periodically, and inexplicably turning itself off. older but easy for hubby to use
I finally got my husband to upgrade to a IPhone 5s. He was so stuck on his 4 that he was afraid of the 5 but this phone is refurbished and he's ok with it. Acted like a brand new phone at a very good price. My only complaint is the battery but that is why I moved up to a 6+. Not an iPhone fan but my son is.
My son (13) had to change out the battery. Good thing he's a hands on kinda kid and didn't mind changing it. It be nicer if Apple made it easier to change out the battery.
