Just what I needed
This is just what I needed. A good solid desk phone for my office. Caller ID and speaker phone were a must and this has that plus an easy to see bigger screen and large but cheap feeling buttons. At first I thought the handset was a bit too big and ungainly but it has proven to be comfortable and easy to nest between my shoulder and ear if necessary. The speaker phone feature sounds a little muddy but still easy enough to hear. The high volume setting distorts the sound, so keeping it between 2 and 3 works best. The ringer volume is adjustable. Off, low, medium and high but the ring tone cannot be changed. It's not horrible though. I'm not alone in wishing the LCD readout was back-lit but I knew going in it wasn't. Nevertheless, the photos show a light bluish background. That is not the case. It's the usual drab grayish green. The menu gives you the option to adjust the contrast which is another nice feature but again, middle of the pack is the best. Too low looks washed out and too high darkens the unused LCDs making everything difficult to read. This phone comes with a wall mounting bracket, but mine is happy sitting right on my desk, taking up a fraction of the space recently occupied my an old, cumbersome and obsolete FAX machine. Good Phone, lots of features, but does not have an answering machine built in.
The sound that you hear while talking has a hint of reverb. The LCD characters are large on the screen, but are hard to read at any angle other than straight on. A lamp on my desk makes it much easier to read the characters. There is no answering machine on the phone. The phone has a good amount weight to it, and it stays in place on the desk, even though the cord is pretty short. A slightly longer cord will probably be desired by most people.

Good phone for a well lit area!
This phone is ideal for an office setting or home use where there is ample light. By the backlit version to be able to see at night or if low light. Ideal for anyone w/ vision problems, large numbers and buttons makes it easy to use. Buy three backlit version for home use!

Landline phone for a dinosaur
Impossible to find item in stores. It has volume control for an old person and other important features. The sound quality is superior to most cell phones and I can understand what is being said. It is mounted on my wall and my wife loves the large screen.
