Too short to cut through a 2X4
I have gotten some carbide oscillating blades from both Bosch and these from DeWalt. I do not know if these are current production, or if they have been replaced with an updated version. First, the good. The price was right, and they cut well. The carbide teeth definitely outlast even the best standard blade. The blades fit my oscillating tool well, and cut straight. Now, the bad. While the carbide is a big step up from regular blades, the Bosch blades have more durable teeth. This is not a deal breaker, though, as these are enough cheaper, so that the cost per cut is probably the same. What IS the deal breaker, is that these are just too short! I was doing some remodeling projects, and these blades will NOT cut through 2X material (1 1/2 thickness). What this means, is that I either have to pry out the 2X4s I was trying to cut, leaving a bunch of splinters to clean up. or use the Bosch blades for that project. The Bosch blades (and my standard non-carbide blades from Dremel, Black & Decker, and even some cheap no-name ones) will ALL cut completely through 2X material. Looking at the blades, they all seem the same at a glance, but hold one up against the other, and these DeWalt blades are just a little shorter. I even held one up against a brand new 2X4 (just in case my old ones were a little thicker than standard) and the little 'shoulder' where the cutting part attaches to the head, just doesn't allow a full cut through 2X material. Now, if you have no need to cut through 2X4s, these blades are a good value, probably 4 of 5 stars, as they will cut right through wood and nails, but for my project, they just weren't long enough.Read full review
