Walthers HO metal wheel sets
Wow! These wheel sets are amazing. Makes my rolling stock like new as I am replacing all of the plastic wheel sets with metal ones. These Walthers wheel sets are very durable and look great on my rolling stock--box cars, gondolas, cabooses, hoppers, etc. When replacing wheels with plastic trucks you will need to use a Micro Mark truck tuning cutter or use an exacto knife to cut a little of the plastic away so the wheels will spin--because if you don't, the wheels will be too tight to spin freely. They look and preform 100% better than the plastic ones. Plus the fact that metal wheels do not attract dirt and grime like plastic ones do. When you spin plastic wheels they become statically charged which attracts the dirt and grime which metal ones do not. I would recommend these wheel sets as they function quite well plus the fact that they look so good when rolling along on my layout. Yankeedabler has the very best prices for bulk packs of wheel sets (100). I have about 50 pieces of rolling stock and 100 wheel sets will replace the wheel sets on 25 cars. I am going to purchase 100 more in the very near future. A really great buy. Wish I had done it years ago when the prices were cheaper.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Everything I expected after doing the research
These wheel sets are everything I expected after reading various reviews and recommendations online. The smaller diameter axle meant that these slipped right in and ran perfectly smooth without any truck modification on a majority of my rolling stock across various brands, such as Life-Like, Bachmann, and Tyco. On the ones that they didn't roll freely, I used the Micro Mark Truck Tuner to clean up the trucks and that solved the problem. Intermountain will probably be my go-to in the future if I ever need to convert additional rolling stock, but my whole collection is done for now. Are Intermountain 40055 HO 33 Inch Insulated Wheel set Brass/nickel plated wheels durable. Yes they are and they do not have the build up of residue that the plastic wheels that come with the cars do. Yes I do recommend them for people that do not like derailments caused by the build up on the plastic wheels. They also make the cars move much easier. With these wheels the car is easier to pull, thus causing less wear on the engine pulling them.
