As someone amazed with the idea of actually cheating death, the previous films have always seemed to amaze me & keep me coming back for more. Unfortunately, this didn't happen with me on this film, even knowing that this film had more death scenes in them than any other. The total scene count was approximately 11. I was not at all interested in seeing this in 3D, yet was very excited to see what kinds of new ways of inventiveness they had to show how death caught up with a person through cause and effect. Every one of the original 3 films had a way of explaining itself. This film failed to explain much of anything. It was pretty much the same old song & dance except no major way of explaining why and how things were supposed to happen. There were many unusual tidbits of Americana that might make this more of a cult film than anything else. The idea that the Devil has something attached to the incidents appears many time throughout the film. For instance, the car that crashes at the speedway has the number 666 on it. Another freaky coincidence or something intentionally done was when the racist wrecker driver is seen drinking Hice Pale Ale. This is the same brand of beer that was seen in Final Destination 2&3. In Final Destination 2, their is a drunk driver driving the Hice Pale Pale Beer truck before the pile-up, and in the 3rd film the truck drives past the drive-through behind Wendy and Kevin and squishes their vehicle against the restaurant. The name Hice comes from the stunt Coordinator Freddie Hice who did the stunt work for Final Destination 2. The deaths scenes in this film were not that good but they were okay but not as gruesome or gory as the other's deaths in the last 3 movies. There was always something barely missing from the deaths scenes and found them a bit too silly. They seemed more double arranged (meaning there was too much overkill to make it at all believable), & therefore, I could not see them really happening. I didn't buy the visionary in this film. He acted less concerned about his premonition than a monkey playing a music box just to get a peanut. I did think the best acting came from Mykelti Williamson (Pvt. Benjamin Buford 'Bubba' Blue in Forrest Gump (1994) who played George Lanter, the security guard at the Speedway. His demeanor & story seemed relative to the film's story-line and gave Director Ellis some credibility in developing likable supporting characters. He talked about how his drunkenness while driving had caused his family to die. Even though he probably hated himself for what he did, he had reconciled himself to the accident and had moved past it, relishing every day of living, like it was his last. It's really too bad we couldn't really care more or less for Nick O'Bannon (Bobby Campo) & Hunt Wynorski (Nick Zano). Given mandatory cute couples, Nick dating Lori Milligan (Shantel VanSanten) and Hunt dating Janet Cunningham (Haley Webb) we soon find out that Hunt is a total douche-bag which doesn't make his death overdone. A few unconventional touches make the film somewhat controversial when Justin Welborn playing Carter Daniels, the red-neck racist, calls George a NI__ER to his face, which might be a bit over the top, however, how else could we say he got what was coming to him? That being said, we can skip the whole discussion about the film & move to the most important thing which is, "Are they going to make another Destination film or Is this the last (THE FINAL) film?".Read full review
Ok, so I love the Final Destination Movies- well 1, 2, & 3 were all good! This one I think was over kill, maybe because the 3D effects they did just made this movie all the more hilarious! Even with knowing the overall plot with 1,2 & 3 I just didn't get bored, but with this one it was just in my opinion the worst one. Maybe the crash scene wasn't as gruesome? or the way everyone is supposed to die from the start was too fake? I got it, maybe it was just way too much CG (computer generated)...or that the CG was poorly done?? YES!! the CG was soo amature!! Check it out, you might agree. thing is, I own all 3 of the first FD movies - and had purchased this 4th one prior to seeing it...well it hasn't arrived in the mail yet, but we rented it last night and I really wished I had saved my money! I had confidence in this one, and I turned out bummed.Read full review
It is very different as to the other 3 befour it. is a must have to a person that like the story line of people destion to die. and you can not change fate. as the 3 befour it . they should realy write one that you have a chance to change your fate and it is on if you do what could result people that was not to be born would be and doing so adding to or causeing other thing to happen their is a lot of way to go into this one. it was a well written movie and different then the 3 befour it all though all end the same death wins, not life . would like to see just one time death looses. and the people win. you know what is going to be the out come befour it happens all and all it is a good flick much like the 3 befour it, no one lives.
Great movie really enjoyed it, old fashioned 3D is great!
