  • It is everything they say it is.

The Olympus 17mm 1.8 has been reviewed a million times. It is everything they say it is. Very sharp. Image quality is excellent. Small but mighty. Most of the micro 4/3 prime lenses are plastic and very light. This lens is metallic and not real light but not real heavy. When you pick it up, it feels of quality and great engineering. The manual focus ring is buttery smooth with stops of all things! And the Olympus system of snapping the ring back towards the camera to initiate manual focus even if the camera is set at Auto Focus is fantastic. Auto Focus is fast. Really fast. Never miss a shot with this lens. It is very quiet in auto focus. Cannot hear it at all. This lens is actual 34mm at full frame measurements. Boca is what you would expect from a 4/3 camera lens and camera. Not incredible but not objectionable. This is not a macro lens. It can take close up shots but the 30 mm lens is way better for macro work. Or if you are into bugs, then the 60 mm is the way to go.t Image quality is excellent. I am using an Olympus OM-D EM 5 II and so far, this lens gives the best quality images on it. While other lenses are really good, this one is even better. Don't think too long about getting this. Just get it and enjoy the images that this lens and your camera can produce.

  • Good lens, but expensive = medium value

It's compact, the construction is great. The rear element is big and the front element is small, which makes it look wimpy. But if you can get over that and you like the 35 mm (eq.) focal length, you'll love this lens. I use it to take family and party pix indoors without flash on my E-M10 III, and they come out great. Before this, I tried a Panasonic 20/1.7, and it was great too, but a LOT slower to focus and just not quite wide enough. Less expensive and razor sharp, though. Maybe a bit sharper than this one, but you'd be hard-pressed to tell in real-world applications.

  • Gem of a lens

Beautiful, all-metal lens. Quite tiny. Feels almost like a fine watch. Focus ring clutch works perfectly although there is a known bug in the lens (not the seller's fault) that causes it not to interact with the body in manual mode as you would fully expect. 17mm (equivalent to 34mm in full-frame) is a perfect general-user focal length.

  • Amazing lens.

This lens is very sharp. Don't believe some reviews saying not sharp enough. If you are a street shooter like me then get yourself a copy now, if you want your pictures to be boring lifeless then get other lenses and make your pictures to look like Hallmark stuff. Probably the best lens I've used not the shapest but sharp does not mean anything really at that this lens is pretty sharp and I do pixel peep. I should have it long time ago.

  • Great lens , super product!

Olympus just has a habit of turning out excellent products, Period ! One of the most well made and desirable M FT lens on market! Perfect focal length.

  • Small, versatile, sharp

This little lens is great - easy to use, and the wide aperture will be especially welcome in the darker months of the year. On mine, the attachment to the camera is a little tight but it will probably get smoother with time. I don't like the lens cap they ship with...wish they would make lens caps that are easier to grip.

  • Don't believe everything your read...Great little lens

Don't believe the reviews that say this lens is not sharp. I didn't get this lens for a long time because of those reviews. Wrong! I don't care how may lines on a chart it can resolve - meaningless. Real world photos are sharp with great color. I've only had it a short time, but this lens is what M43 is all about. Tiny, light, very good IQ. Pair this lens with one of he small M43 cameras, PEN-F, EM-10, EM-5, and you have a classic 35mm equiv walk around is a small, inconspicuous package.

  • PLENTY SHARP, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, CAN'T GO WRONG WITH THIS ONE!

This lens is absolutely fantastic. Extra small, extremely light weight and SHARP as a tack! It's a great lens for general walk around photography. Head shot portraits have plenty of detail...eye lashes and blood vessels couldn't be any sharper. I just had a 26" X 54" black and white print made from a handheld 3-frame panorama made with this lens. The branches and twigs in the trees and bushes have plenty of detail. Don't hesitate buying one of these.

  • Razor sharp and very lightweight

Like most MFT lenses, it's pretty small, but the optical quality is also excellent. A very handy focal length and speed for indoor and street photography.

  • Already one of my favorites.

The Olympus m.zuiko 17mm 1.8 is already one of my favs. The build and optical quality are great and very well documented. I’ve owned the Panny 20mm 1.7 mounted to Oly bodies and while it was great in full light situations, but struggled with it in low light even wide open. Build quality is better than the Panasonic, optical performance is equal, and low light depends I think on the camera body you own.
