About this product

Product Information

The next chapter in Nintendo's blockbuster Pokémon franchise features 156 completely new creatures to battle, capture, tame, and train. Two distinct starting areas are now available, Black City and White Forest, each corresponding to the game's title. Exclusive legendary Pokémon types are also associated with each version of the game, requiring players to trade with owners of the opposite version to "catch 'em all." A new graphics engine incorporates increased 3D elements and changing seasons for the first time in the series.

Seasons aren't for ambiance, either -- certain Pokémon appear more frequently during certain seasons, while parts of the land are inaccessible during winter or summer. As a male or female trainer, you'll begin your career with a choice of three Pokémon, including grass-based Snivy, fire-based Tepig, or water-based Oshawott. You'll then travel across the all-new Unova region looking to pit your skills against rival Pokémon trainers. Battles are once again resolved in turn-based fashion, as you decide which of your Pokémon's skills to activate while attempting to defeat the opposition. New twists to the battle phase are rotation and triple battles. The former utilizes a tag-team format, while the latter is a three-on-three fight.

  • 10/10 great game, amazing gameplay, and story.

This game is a great first impression for someone who has never played a Pokèmon game. Not only is it a good Pokèmon game, but a really good RPG. As someone who has only played the gen 4, 5, and 6 games this generation of pokemon has the best story of any of the games that I have personally played. So if you're looking for a compelling story, and likable characters, then this game is for you. There is really not much to say in the gameplay, it's fast and engaging, your standard for these games. And, if you haven't given this franchise a try, then this game is a great place to start. I would give it a 10/10, truly an incredible game.

  • Plenty of flaws but overall darn good game.

I have my problems with generation 5, a lot of them really. But I would be lying if I said these were bad Pokemon games. Sun and Moon, LGPE and now almost certainly SWSH are bad games. The good: The difficulty of the games is a refreshing change of pace from most Pokemon games. BW aren't particularily hard, but the npcs do use more stratergy than spam reflect and light-screen and damage moves, so thats a plus. Seasons are very cool ways to remix the region's visuals over time, making the place feel much more alive. Some would say the story is good, frankly it's just fine. Hilbert and Hilda are some of the best (if not the best) looking MCs in core Pokemon Sprites are very good looking and the battle engine is quick, so is map traversal. The bad: Who in their right mind though the new EXP system was a good idea. Seriously, at least there is Audino farming that can be done so it's already better than Sun and Moon which have this exp system but not farming methods. Christ. Most of the new designs are terribad and all the cool mons are late game evolutions or post game content. Too much dialogue, but then again Sun and Moon exist... double Christ. Who again in their right mind thought that not having any previous gen mons for the main campaign was a good idea?! Some of the replacement mons are just worse versions of the older mons. Anyways yeah this is a 7.5/10 game. Buy BW2 instead if you just want a gen 5 game. (I hate Nate's hair so much, god forgive me for I will strike down whoever made that f*ing character design)

  • Good timing, but a little wonky.

The game came earlier than the listed day! The only gripe I have is that my 3DS doesn't always recognize the game chip, which I'm not sure if it's my end or the game's. I can get it to work, but it takes a few tries to recognize! Other than that I'm pleased!

  • Pretty good game

If you are a fan of Pokémon or at least just the games, you'll like this game for sure especially if you've played the other ones.Even for those who are new to it and will start off with playing this one first, you'll most likely enjoy it.It's worth a try. It's a good game but when you complete the story and capture the majority or all of the Pokémon, the game might become boring to you as there's not much left to do and accomplish.Your only options would be to restart your progress to play through it again or to leave it as is and move onto the next game you choose to play. But that's pretty much the same case for all of these games. It's still worth playing through it though.(In my opinion at least)

  • Pokémon White / Black, among the best.

A lot of locatios to explore, even after completing the main story, which happens to be very interesting. Excellent animations and pokedex entries for all of the 649 pokémon. Introduction of very strong pokémon and moves, like Volcarona and its Fiery Dance and Quiver Dance. New and very useful mechanics and items, like the secret ability for pokémon and the rocky helmet and normal gem items. All of the above and a whole lot more make this an excellent game. My personal opinion is that, at the time of writing this review, this game possibly rates in the top 3 of core Pokémon games.

  • Good classic game

It is a great game that takes a little extra work to make it run like it ran previously. Features like Global Link and Wi-Fi have since been shut down but it is a fun game none the less and twist on the previous steps of play up to this game.

  • Solid Pokemon Game in the Franchise

I've played every Pokemon game Nintendo has to offer. Pokemon White is a solid step in the right direction—fun gyms, interesting pokemon, and compelling story line. Take Team Plasma down!

  • Wirth the tiem waiting to play it

Could not get it years ago when it was out due to economic problems, but now that I have the chance, it was worth the wait. Have also played newer versions such as X/Y and Shield/Sword, but I am happy to get this game in order to learn about the lore of this region and its Pokémon.

  • Gen 5 rises again.

The game is just as I remember it. The soft reboot aspects of Gen 5 bring back a wave of nostalgia for the previous games but I love the story and gameplay aspects of White! The music is stellar and the little visuals are nice to notice as well.

  • Good game, worth the price.

The game is in good condition and just as fun as I remember it being as a kid. It's kinda old but I think the graphics still have a bit of charm to them and hold up just fine. The gameplay is simple yet addicting and goes by the same formula as any other regular Pokemon game with a few extra features than it's predecessor's like battling with two Pokemon at once. It's definitely worth the price.
