Great for Xbox One
I bought the 500GB xbox one and it was simply too small of an amount of storage. This HDD hides well and matches the xbox one very well. Its quiet, and I dont notice it. One thing that does bother me is the extremely bright LED indicator. It can light up a bedroom, yikes. This can be easily fixed with some tape, but that detracts from its appearance. Works great!
My portable WD Elements USB 3.0 drive is working great with the StarTech 2 Port ExpressCard SuperSpeed USB 3.0 card. I have them currently connected to a Lenovo T420. So far, after a few months of use, I have not been disappointed. If you plan on a similar setup, just make sure the USB card is pushed all the way in the slot. There has been numerous complaints about it coming out. I can see that if it is moved a lot. Fortunately, I keep mine on my desk without a lot of mobility. As for the WD drive itself, it's quiet, definitely faster than my USB 2.0 drive and much smaller. Great value for mass storage
Recently my Windows 7 computer crashed after a long life of good service. Unfortunately, one of my external drives got damaged in the process. When I found the WD Elements drive, I thought, "Wow! It's twice the size as the one I lost for the same price." I decided to give it a try. I found it very easy to format and I was able to split it into 2 partitions; one for me and the other for my husband. We use it mainly for music and backup of other files. Since we both frequently access the drive, we decided not to encrypt it. So far we are both quite happy with its speed and ease of use, and continue to marvel at how much space we each have, even after moving literally thousands of MP3s, image files, and documents. You will love the Element series of WD drives. Easy to hook up with the USB 2.0 drive slots on any platform which will connect the power and data through the one set of wires. Dependable and convenient
I love these drives. Been using them for years (1 and 2 TB). I use a pair of them on trips ... I offload my footage once to each before wiping SD cards. Only ever had a problem with one once ... that was because of me transferring files while on a road that got rougher than I expected .. still I was able to recover the drive.
