Bad design...
Two things are wrong with the design of this dispenser. The first is the deal breaker, the tape spindle part is thinner than a standard roll of tape and it binds. So even if you release the friction stop lever it 'most of the time' is very hard to pull tape out like across the end of a package. Then sometimes it releases and you pull out too much. I use the thin brown tape and it sometimes breaks it because it's so hard to pull out. That is with no friction applied. Second problem is the nose of the dispenser. It's blunt and the tape cut off is at a bad angle and is kinda in a blindspot down low. I mean you can get used to it but it would be nice is it cut off nearer the nose of the thing. One redeeming value is that the tape very rarely gets 'lost' or wraps back up on the roll. I usually presents a good little piece to grab hold of. I bought one but now use my old modified cheap scotch dispenser. Modified to hold a large roll. Oh this thing will hold a large roll, that is a plus. Hope this helps you.
