Great concept and space saver - however......
After owning two of these Dual Power transformers (this one included) and having the same problem with both I can't say they are durable nor recommend them. When they work like they are designed they do perform as expected and are very convenient in limiting the space on your control console. However, they seem to be prone to one of the two controls not working. The one I purchased that prompted this review, did exactly that. I wasn't expecting it and spent a lot of time researching what exactly was wrong when the locomotive stopped only to find out it was the one side of the transformer. Further, the problem with this one side is intermittent in that it works sometimes and other times it's dead as a door nail. Anyway, it's now been replaced with two separate transformers and used only for limited testing expecting it to be the root of any problem I experience. I highly recommend that if you want a dual controller you go with another manufacturer or stick with the more reliable single units you're familiar with.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good choice for smaller layouts.
This a specialty item for smaller DC N/HO layouts, where independent control of two trains is required and space is limited. DC output is about 7 volts on each circuit (Cab), which is enough to drive two locomotives on each. Larger layouts running DC should really use two separate controls.
