  • Doesn't work with Win8.1 or newer, due to Microsoft's bad 'backward compatibility" , save your money and time

Would have been ZERO stars if there were a way to do that. Turns out that in Windows 8.1, Windows Easy Transfer does NOT allow direct computer to computer transfers. You have to use an external storage device. That could be an external HD or SSD or "thumb drive", or you could use one of the cloud storage services. Which might be OK if you have reasonably fast internet service and don't mind having your files under someone else's control. For me "cloud computing" is a security hole large enough to drive a fleet of double-trailer semi's through, so I don't consider it an option. Also, Easy Transfer in Win8.1 does NOT transfer user settings for applications (e.g. Microsoft Office). Save your money and buy a reasonably large external drive. 2 terrabytes is only a bit over $120 if you shop around a bit, and you retain full control over your files. I've stuck with Windows due to needing to run some engineering apps that aren't available on other platforms. So I might as well move on to Mac OS10 or one of the UNIX platforms. Guess it's time.

  • USB Data transfer cable

Don't expect it to work with windows 10. Microsoft mas disabled the application and the included one won't run. They want you to Purchase their supported app from Lap-Link. And the Lap-Link app is a one time use only. Kind of a ripoff.
