Upgrade CPU in a Laptop if you can. What a difference!
I upgraded the CPU on the logic board of a HP Probook 4440s. What a huge difference compared to a Celeron 1.9Ghz. I was considering an i7 but felt it would drain the battery a bit faster as it had a higher wattage requirement. This is a backup laptop I use for testing purposes and may install Linux or make it a Hackintosh. I needed an i5 to considering Mac OS X. I maxed out on RAM, replaced HDD with an SSD, replaced the DVD with a Caddy holding a 1TB HDD. The processor was icing on the cake and I could not be happier. Clean Win 10 Pro OS installation. Fabulous upgrade!
Purchased a used HP ProBook, but it came with a Celeron processor, Dual Core but still not too impressive in speed. Checked supported processors and compared on cpubenchmark. This i5 is 250% the rated speed of the oem Celeron ... at the same rated 35watts!!! So, no need for additional or upgraded cooling.
