Mercy by Jodi Picoult is a cleverly written story about two marriages: one between Cam and his wife Allie, the other between Cam's cousin Jamie and his wife Maggie. As the novel progresses, the reader watches as the marriage between Cam and Allie changes. It is fun to watch the characters develop as they deal with difficult issues in their lives. I know this book has received some negative reviews but don't understand why. I began this novel about 8PM one evening and was up until after 2AM finishing it up; it was that hard to put it down. My book club read Mercy for our May book, and everyone enjoyed it. One member who had never read a book by Jodi Picoult has now read several more. I myself have always enjoyed Ms. Picoult's books, especially Plain Truth.
I simply cannot get enough of this author! Where has she been hiding??? :o) Seriously, Jodi Picoult is my all time favorite author. When I began reading her books it was like I landed on a verbal minefield of wisdom, hope, despair, courage... This book is no exception. Don't read her writing if you aren't prepared to ask yourself some pretty tough, important questions about your values, your beliefs and so on... she surprises reader's with twists and turns all along the way, while at the same time, she challenges you to look deeper into the issues at hand. This book is excellent. I would recommend it, most definitely! Way to go Jodi!!!!
Book in perfect shape and story compelling.
