Incredible sharpening system! I cannot believe how sharp my knives now are because of this tool. Sharpened very quickly too. I was using a DMT sharpening system prior. (Diamond stones). A better edge
The work sharp knife sharpener works great once you get the hang of it. I like it for knives that are old and have extremely dull or damaged edges or ones that have been ground at a poor angle. The main difference between the Ken Onion edition and the standard one is belt width. The standard work sharp belts are a half inch wide while the KO edition belts are 3/4 of an inch wide, which gets the job done faster. The down side is the time it takes to learn how to properly use the sharpener and knowing when to get new belts.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I bought this to replace several different sharpening solutions that just didn't cut it. This one didn't disappoint. Right out of the box I used the quick reference guide to sharpen my favorite santoku knife to an angle of 17-1/2 degrees. Using the recommended belts I finished up with an edge so sharp that I could actually shave with it (I have a bald spot on my arm where the testing took place). That was enough to sell me on how well this system works. And it took all of about 5 minutes. Awesome sharpener.
I read the instructions and found a ton of how to use videos on YouTube. I started with an old dull knife and was immediately impressed with how quickly I could get a nice edge on it. I then moved on to kitchen knives and then my EDC knives. I was worried about the belts heating up the steel knife blades, but after several passes, the blade was barely warm. Sharpening with my new work sharp Ken Onion edition is easy to use and I can get a hair shaving edge in about 5 minutes. When I first received my Work Sharp sharpener I made sure to read the instructions and watched some videos on YouTube to help me get started doing things properly. I sharpened about 8 knives the first time I used it and was really happy with the results. I wish I would have bought one sooner. I would recommend this sharpener.
