After months of planning, we finally put together our pig roaster. It can easily handle a very large pig. The first pig roast we did, the pig was 150 lbs dressed. In the future my family plans on roasting chickens, turkeys all sorts of things.
We needed a heavy duty quality built gear reduction motor.
This answered all of our needs.
Its rated for continuous duty, roasting for 12 to 16 hours no problem.
Small amp draw, extension cord no problem.
The motors out put is 6 rpm, we chose the proper chain drive gear ratio to bring it down to 1rpm. I would also suggest using a #40 drive chain, less chance of skipping.
Picking the right motor was my biggest concern with this project, I am happy to say, this is the only unit I would buy after installing and using it period.
