It has EVERYTHING! Mario gets a lot of new outfits, the game is long with 999 possible power moons to get in the game (like how in past mario games you collected power stars, now its power moons.) My favorite thing so far is that in the desert, you can use a ride! He is like a lion named Jaxi. You can even get off the ride and if you dont go too far he's there when you get back. Now as for the graphics, they are amazing. Definetly the best graphics in a mario game so far. Its just a big open world game and the worlds are beautiful too! BEST MARIO GAME YET!!! ITS ACTUALLY THE MAIN REASON I BOUGHT A NINTENDO SWITCH! I have 2 of my in game screenshots below.

I heard many great things about Super Mario Odyssey and I can say that I loved almost every minute of my journey in this game. Having no power ups was kinda weird but Capturing enemies is an awesome ability in exchange. Have you ever wondered what it was like to be a Paragoomba? How about a Cheep Cheep or even a T-Rex. This game has so much to do and so many things to collect. This is easily my favorite 3D Mario game hands down. The boss fights were pretty fun too. There's plenty of Kingdoms to explore.

I love Mario games... played the old skool NES as a kid, loved MARIO 64 in high school, and nothing has compared to 64, for me, until now. This was amazing. Great graphics. Intuitive gameplay and controls. My 6 year old who has only ever games on an iPad latched onto this almost instantly and mastered the controls. I played the game straight through and beat the final Bowser battle in about 10 hours- however there’s so much to do, I continued to play and for the next 2 weeks, we play for 2 hours a day and have yet to discover half of what’s available. Amazing game. Just buy it already! Get it. Just do it.

Sometimes dangerously engaging. There's always another goal just five minutes away and then suddenly it's been 3 hours. Performing special moves to get places can sometimes be difficult, but getting every single thing isn't necessary to advance through the game so even people like me who can't combo to save their life can enjoy it. Lots to do and discover even outside main plot, and has plenty even after the "end"

My 7 year old daughter loves playing this game on 2 player with me! It has just enough story and challenges to make it interesting but with the assist mode on keeps it easy enough for her to navigate and master. Can’t wait to keep exploring Mario worlds with her on our new switch!!

DARY! Legendary! This game is incredible in every way. I've played and owned EVERY Mario game, and this one just puts all the rest to shame.. why haven't all their games been this good?? Nintendo did it right this time, people!! If you're considering purchasing this.. let me encourage you: I've never bought a brand new game system... until the switch.. Nintendo wants 300 for the switch... those fools must not realize I would've paid up to five hundred! Mario is my favorite game, and I do not regret the amount of money I've dropped into this. Make the investment, buy the game, it's so worth it.

This game is Awesome. You can change outfits, explore different worlds and have awesome abilities granted to you by a special living hat. If you loved games like Super Mario Galaxy and 3d land, you'll definitely love this.

Excelent game, with incredible gameplay, a lots of secrets, some of them are very challenging to complete, so its a game well balanced, with new players and old ones can enjoy anyway. If you wish to complete 100% of the game, be prepare to play this game a lot, because there is tons of collectables for that! Every Switch owner must have it!

So I've seen gamplay on this game for years, but I wasn't sure on getting a Switch at the time. Then I got the OLED model a few weeks ago and I'm glad I was able to play this. This is very much my favorite 3D Mario platformer since Sunshine and I like how the gameplay and graphics are very polish. Cappy is my favorite companion buddy since F.L.U.D.D. from Sunshine as the concept of taking over other people and creatures. Sadly, much like F.L.U.D.D., Mario is kinda nerfed without Cappy as that there are certain moves he can't pull without a powerup, in this case the spinning attack like he could pull off in the Galaxy games. But it shouldn't be too much of an issue. I also like how open ended the game is on what power moons you can get unlike the previous titles as it gives out more gameplay. Some of the levels are challenging, but they do give you an experience once you master it.Read full review

No Spoilers. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this title. I have liked Mario in the past, from Atari to Wii, although I never played M64, and I didnt own a Gamecube until somewhat recently (I didnt care for Sunshine, probably because I'm more fond of platformer Mario. I thought I'd try it, maybe beat it quickly and get it out of the way. I purchased Odyssey with the console (along with SMB and Mario Kart) as a bundle and haven't so much as played the other two yet. Which is silly, I know. Im in no rush, I said to myself. I just thought I'd focus on this one game for December, and it's been a treat. It's a lot of fun with a variety of challenges, some of which take a bit of trial and error. I would neither like it to be harder nor easier, theres a full range of challenges to keep me interested. I learned quickly that some challenges you encounter simply have to wait, and its satisfying to build your move skills and get to objectives later on when just days ago you thought it some were Impossible. The sheer variety of moves Mario can do is impressive, as well as the motion controls, so much slicker than the original Wii offered, and I still haven't quite mastered some of them. I did go on Youtube a couple of times for tips and tricks, but Ive generally not wanted help, as discovering the game all on its own terms is what makes it fun and memorable. The story is very familiar for Mario, The princess got herself kidnapped for lack of training a proper army after being kidnapped numerous times before. And its no surprise, her Kingdom' subjects are like happy go lucky little toys, meek and mild. Bowser has her once again, as his minions try to foil her rescue by the one man in the Universe who has any chance. Somehow, the Princess never got married all these years, shes a middle aged spinster, and her friend, Mario, is still a plumber and batchelor. And yet his 'stache hasnt grayed yet. Youll battle said minions, recooperating Moons to outfit your dirigible craft to reach further destinations, reconquering from Bowser one World after another on your quest to save her and restore order. I also like the mini games and the retro, 2D platformer bits you find along the way. Nintendo was very clever to include the 2D retro mini levels, and its interesting how they incorporate the 2D play into the maps. There's truly something for everyone in this game, supposing you've played Mario before. But even if you havent, youre in for a game that feels new and special. Now some who have said the game is all about collecting Moons arent wrong exactly. You need them, some of them any way, but they're also fun (and sometimes quite difficult) to collect. Essentially youre going to explore every nook and cranny in each World you travel to. And had the game makers not hidden items for you to find, you likely wouldn't see it all. But theres much more to Odyssey than collecting Moons and Coins. I feel theres quite a range of things to do, characters you encounter, moves to learn, games to play. Visually, this game is a blast, and I often admire their cartooning, animation, object surfaces, and depth of the levels. Last but not least, I find the music pretty cool and varied. Thats one flaw I would admit I wish Nintendo had addressed in the Switch, a Toslink connection so I can pipe audio to my surround sound headphones. Im using an aux cable, but so far, any which cable I use there is some hiss. I can live with it for now, but intend to improve the audio the headphone audio experience with a box (hdmi to hdmi/optical conversion). Some of the Worlds dont seem very large at first glance, but there tends to be much more than meets the eye. A few hours in and you'll see what I mean. Finally, I will say, Switch games seem to really hold their value. And when you're just getting a Switch and looking for titles, super deals seem to be few. That said, if you dont intend to keep every game forever, play and resell the ones you dont find great replay value in after a while and you'll probably find you can get most of your money back (and invest it into another game). I think thats wonderful. Coming from an Xbox gaming perspective, it wasnt usually too long before a game took a nosedive in value, and your local games reseller would offer you $5. But I just paid 60 a few months ago. Ouch! And that's all I have to say about Mario Odyssey. Happy gaming.Read full review
