This low-priced three-CD box set basically serves as a history of Trojan Records. Starting with the Skatalites in the mid-'60s and working through to Dennis Brown in the 1970s, Trojan released a ton of great reggae and ska. Here's a small taste of some of the songs you'll find here: Desmond Dekker's "Isrealites," the Harry J All-Stars' "Liquidator," the Melodians' "Rivers of Babylon," Bob Marley & the Wailers' "Sun Is Shining," Jimmy Cliff's "Vietnam," and Dennis Brown's "Money in My Pocket." Some of the other names are not as familiar, but the music is uniformly first-rate. This is a fine purchase for newcomers to reggae and collectors alike. ~ Tim Sendra
