A bit complex, but very good. The rules take awhile to understand and learn. The game has 5 factions you can play as. Note - each faction has different abilities. Some faction abilities are better than others. But, in a 2 - 3 player game the players could play the best 2-3 factions to even things out a bit. The game is mainly a resource management game and a it takes about 90-120 minutes to play, which is pretty quick for a resource mgt game. The game has very nice miniatures and a beautiful game board. The components are top notch. It also has a solo automa which is enjoyable to play. This game is in a lot of top 10 lists.

If you like Settlers of Catan, but want something a little bit more intense, this game is great. It has a lot of different aspects and the relative value of them depends on what player board you are randomly assigned at the beginning of the game, so the strategy changes every time you play. In my experience, some game developers seem to make games complex just for the sake of making it complex, but this game is only as complex as it needs to be and is incredibly fun. If you're a fan of pandemic, catan, and Gloomhaven, I think you'll love this game.

Scythe is a well-designed, visually beautiful board game. You need to have an hour or two to play, and it can take a little practice to get the hang of all the rules. But once you do, the game is an immersive, engaging, entertaining game, with each player able to take a different path to victory, and while what each player does has an effect on the others, direct conflict and combat is less frequent than you would expect. The ability to change up the various factions and player mats, each with their unique characteristics, keeps the replay value high. And did I mention how pretty it is?
