To replace my broken GTX 1070 in MSI GT72VR 7RE. From the photo, I saw the GPU chip model was the same as the original 1070 but the board layout wasn't exactly the same as the original and I knew the original heatsink that covers the VRM and VRAM modules was not going to fit. So I got small copper heatsinks and thermal glue to cool down those components. And I'm using a laptop cooling pad. Everything works great but this card doesn't recognize the MSI laptop monitor as g-sync compatible.
I'm glad about my purchase, the board really performs well, it's fast and consistent in terms of temperatures. With this upgrade I'm being able to play AAA titles on a 2012 clevo laptop, so considering the life extended of the entire computer it's a significant low investment to keep running with decent settings today.
