APU wasn't a term that I was aware that I was dealing with until I dug deeper into this processor's technology. I needed something to replace my old unit which did not have a whole lot of gaming potential, the frequency was spot on with the A4-7300 3.8ghz dual core APU which could fire up most games without any GPU assistance, then I paired up this quad core A8-6500 with an HD8490 GPU and took off, you can't argue with the results.
