    Very impressed

    I'm new to routing, and used this bit set yesterday to build my first practice shaker door. Being new, I had issues, but my issues came from being new I'm fairly sure. First, the bit that makes the cut for the rails and styles (not the mirror-image rail joiner bit) cut great - I had no issues with that bit. I used 3/4" birch with a Bosch 1617 table router, and made the cut easily in one pass. I ran my 2" wide styles and rails without a push block and it came out great. The bit that gave me grief was the mirror image bit - I got large ugly snipe on the tail edge of each rail that would have rendered them useless on a finished piece. Looking back, I do not think my fence was totally straight, which can lead to snipe. I did not use a steel ruler to align the fence with the roller bearings, I just eyed it and ran the wood. I also did not use any sacrificial leading and trailing wood pieces, which can cut down on snipe. I did use my miter and held the rail tight as it made the pass through the bit, but I think that left too much room for error. Today I'm going to try it again with a more supportive sled that I'll make. Overall, based on the quality of the cuts these bits made, I'd recommend them as they do seem worth it.
