I've been using Samsung SSD's for a few years in various computers that I maintain. My wife has a nice HP i7 laptop that came with two 500gb hard drives from the factory. Since she saves every picture she sees, the drives were getting full and thus slowing down. Boot times in the 3 minute range were becoming commonplace. To remedy these problems I replaced her old drives with two Samsung 1tb 860 pro SSD's. It did take all day to transfer the data (I did mention that they were mostly full) but the switch was easy, painless, and did not result in any lost hair on my part, and now her laptop boots in less than 40 seconds. Plus she has double the space to save pictures from her friends latest lunch that was posted on FaceBook. A great product but kinda pricey.
Super speedy and a lot of space. The perfect size if your going to dual boot Linux and Window$. Works great in Ubuntu 18.10! Follow these steps to in setting up Ubuntu 18.04 or 18.10.....specifically the SSD portions(time codes 11:00 and 14:01): Doh looks like Ebay doesn't allow web links.

The Samsung PRO series SSDs are a little pricey for a reason. They are rock solid, made to work for years, and sit in the upper range of speed and re-writes.
After 5 years of service I decided to swap even though my last PRO was working great. The copy over went flawless.
I now have 4 of these drives in my house and I have maybe ten of the 840's. All work perfectly out of the box and they REALLY speed up my computers. I've never had one fail and did I say that they are FAST? The price recently came down so the value is there if you are tired of that hourglass.
I erred on the choice of an internal SSD, not usable for my MacBook Pro, so I found a case (Orico) in which to insert it and use it as an external drive.
