I play a fretless bass and love the thump of the flatwounds it came with but needed something brighter. Tried roundwounds on it but the finger noise became more noticeable than the "mwah" we bassists want from a fretless. Did some research and thought these pressurewounds would be worth a try. Boy, are they ever! I have my "mwah" but only a very tiny amount of finger noise. They are nearly as bright as the roundwounds on one of my other basses. I also notice the sustain is more pronounced than the flats. I can dial the thump back in with the tone control and finger muting. I usually use Rotosounds but their version of this product is considerably more expensive. When time comes to change strings on my other basses, I will try these GHS strings on them too.

These strings have great tone. They are good for playing with your fingers and slapping. They sound good using a pick too. Since they are oval, instead of round, they are more comfortable on your fingers, especially when sliding. But they still offer the punch of roundwounds. These are now my "go to" strings.
