The Fox Run 5047 Adjustable Cheese Slicer was a replacement for another slicer we had used for some time. The Fox Run model was better quality with a sturdier feel and better materials then our old one. The ole one was not adjustable, so that feature was a key feature in selecting the Fox Run slicer. We actually bought 2 and gave one to our daughter-in-law. She too, noted the quality. We have only used it a few times so far and are anxious to see how long the cutting wire hold up. But, we are very satisfied with the purchase of this item.

The wire used isn't tight enough to keep from bowing out to as much as 3/4 inch. The cheese slice is thin to thick! The plastic roller is soo tight that it doesn't roll at all! You can force it to move with a lot of finger strength, but it won't roll on the cheese. It just slides. There is not any way to tighten the wire so I don't think anyone should buy this product. Its certainly not worth the money! Mike Anderson....Idaho

The wire broke on my old 1. I put another thin piece of wire on it. It wouldn't stay tight enough to suit me. It was used for several years, before the wire broke. I was happy to see the new 1 came with a replacement wire. I didn't pay attention and see that when I ordered it. I would recommend this product to any cheese lover.

This slicer works better than some, but there's always a problem getting all the way through the slice without the cheese crumbling at the bottom. Also the wire breaks sooner or later, and while it comes with an extra wire, it's not easy to put the new wire on tightly enough to work well. I'm still looking for the perfect slicer.

It looks nice, but to adjust the width of the cheese slice, you have to remove the screw completely, and manually move the adjustable part, the part with the roller (the roller is very stiff and difficult to roll also). The part doesn't slide; it physically comes off and I had to push it back on and then replace the screw. I am going to put it in one position and leave it there rather than go through all this every time I want to adjust it. Also, there is always the danger of dropping the screw during this adjustment process.
