I had played Splinter Cell: Double Agent (Xbox) back in the the mid 2000s. As with all the rest of the Splinter Cell iterations, the gameplay was compelling, intelligent & enthralling. The missions were well written and perfectly staged. The opportunity to go off somewhere that was not scripted gave the gamer a sense of control and immersion that I hadn't seen in games of that era. With the objective of "staying in the shadows", it meant that the gamer had to be not only innovative in the use of clever shadows, corners, & alleys, but creative in the ability to complete a mission all in the cover of darkness as if no one knew Sam Fisher was there! Brilliant! Now the cons of Double Agent version 2 (live). It does not live up to the excitement and thrills of V1. The missions are boring. The "covert" aspect almost non-existent. But most of all, the ability to explore ways around a problem to your liking was gone! The amount of time spent making bombs! The constant, "Follow me" or the game can't progress! Killing Lambert! Nope! I hated this game. It did not feel like the legacy of Splinter Cell was honored in this version.Read full review
