  • Works just fine, after updating the Dell BIOS!

When I originally installed this in my laptop, replacing the 4GB stick in the only DIMM slot that the laptop had, it would hardly remain stable after 1-2 minutes of booting into Windows. Sometimes, Windows would crash within seconds entering the desktop from booting up. When I was lucky enough for it to be stable enough for me to check CPU-Z, it showed the correct SPD timings of CAS 9-9-9, 1T.. Then I "meditated" on this for one day, and remembered that BIOS updates could fix this issue. So I went over to Dell's site and found the drivers for a specific Dell Inspiron 5000 series model with the model number matching what was shown in the BIOS (since it wasn't shown anywhere - not even on a sticker under the laptop). The BIOS revision was upgraded from A03 to A10. Then I gave it another try, putting the 8GB stick back in there. It was a beautiful moment! Everything was perfectly stable for hours upon hours, after running Memtest, OCCT (using 64-bit Linpack), etc.. Gotta share this to you guys, that sometimes all is needed is a BIOS update, for memory compatibility issues! Cheers!
