    a nice peice of heavy cast iron - but not for grilling.

    This cast iron grill was not designed by a cook and it shows. No drainage features, no grab handles, surface is not non stick, even after "treatment" , surface area barely fits on a 2 burner stove. Heat distribution seems ok, but nothing to hold grill in place when applying utensils. No drain spout for fat to run out. Lots of chefs non stick grills on ebay to purchase other than this one--not recommended.

    Heavy and does not warp when you heat it.

    I bought a new stove.that has a center griddle burner. I knew I needed a sturdy griddle and gave this a try. I am not thrilled with it, but it stays flat when heated. The grill side sticks and I have seasoned it as well as used cooking oil. I even pour cold water on it and let it sit over night just to get the stuff loosened up. The product package says this sticks less the more you use it, that seems to be the case. If I had more outlets in my kitchen, I would have just stuck with my electric griddle. Still hamburgers and bacon come out nice. Be sure to use canola oil instead of vegetable/soybean oil..

    Cast Iron Griddle

    This item is good. The only thing it needs to make it great, would be a smoothly sanded cooking surface. I sand, with metal sandpaper, all of my cast iron cookware and it really pays off. Easier to turn items, more even cooking. Far easier cleanup. When it comes to pancakes or similar, the finished product is much better.

    I CAST MY VOTE CAST FOR CAST IRON...

    This griddle is excellent. I wasn't expecting the pre-seasoning to be so effective. While I did season it myself before I used it, and pretty much after each use so far, it has exceeded my expectations. I've made home fries, pancakes, and eggs just to name a few and NOTHING has given me any problem with sticking. I've been a lifetime user of iron skillets and it normally takes quite a while to get the iron seasoned to perfection. Not the case with this griddle. I have absolutely no complaints and would recommend this griddle to anyone contemplating buying a griddle. Just follow cleaning instructions to the letter - NO SOAP, no harsh scouring. Simply keep it seasoned and it will give you a lifetime of use!!

    this is a very nice compact griddle. I bought it for three reasons. 1. I love cast iron. 2. it is made by lodge (you cant go wrong with lodge). 3. it fits across two burners on the stove top in my RV. Arrived in a timely manner. Well packed. This is a good one people.
