  • Works A+++

    CPU looked brand new. No flaws. Booted right up and BIOS/OS/AMD Overdrive recognized without issue or need to change anything. Replaced A10-5700K on HP P7-1417cb (Sam's Club) with the MSI MS-7778 (Jasmine) MB version 1.0 (made for HP). BIOS is A15 (latest) This is the highest APU series AMD processor that will fit this motherboard. The highend FX series processor, I believe has a larger L1 or L2 cache but requires a separate GPU. OEM processor is TDP 65W will this upgrade is TDP 100W. The OEM Cooler Master air cooler will overheat your closest stick of RAM so another CPU cooler that redirects the hot exhaust air away from your RAM is recommended. Look for a heatpipe that rises above or a water cool setup. You are limited in height and will have to get an external water cooler setup if you go that route. Breathed new life in my rig. Now if I can only figure out why the SSD won't work as my primary drive when I have my onboard RAID active.

  • Big step over the 5800K

    My HP Envy box acted up for years, crashing with machine checks. I traced the problem to a bad CPU chip(!) Possibly why I bought the machine near-new refurbished. Anyway, I decided to look for a higher, plug-compatible AMD APU for a replacement and found the 6800K. It's faster and has a better GPU, so I can contribute to Folding@Home again! I turned off turbo using AMD Overdrive unless/until I replace the heatsink. Performance is still great.

  • Best AMD FM2+ Socket Processor Upgrade

    Originally $320 Black Edition box product on initial release March 2013, this was an excellent upgrade from an A4-5300B processor. This is the best upgrade for the AMD FM2+ socket. Still posts decent Processor benchmarks all around.

    Plugged in and worked just fine as an upgrade from an A4-5300. Only problem is ‘SpeedPak’ hands off to USPS. It’s pretty much guaranteed that if USPS is involved it adds 1-3 days for them to mismanage it.
