A great price, get it while you can!
It seems the Surface 4 is coming, but there is no confirmation of that. The Surface 3 has been reduced in price, as well as its docking station. You can get an awesome, lite desktop/laptop setup for under 500 dollars. I purchased 2 Surface 3 Docking Stations for my daughter and foster child for Xmas and they both love them. It makes your setup stand out and most importantly rapid charges the Surface 3 tablet. Highly recommended! Nice Dock for Surface 3
Connect your Surface 3 fast with the desktop dock. Handy and convenient when time matters and you want convenience and great functionality. You get 4 USB ports (2 are type 3, and 2 are type 2). You also get a honest Ethernet port for wire connections to the network that works great. There's also a display port, but not used as yet, and headset jack, along with a power brick that powers the dock and your surface. Overall, happy with purchase. Good value and feature set. Correction: There is no power brick; power is integrated inside the dock. Everhything you need to make the Surface 3 a "REAL" computer
What's good? 4 USB ports GREATLY improve the functionality of the Surface 3 (this was the 1 gripe I had with the "3" Oh, there is 1 micro USB port!!!). ALSO, I like the fact you can close your keyboard cover and the unit still fits perfectly, so you can take it around and effectively have a notebook if a power outlet is nearby and you need the USB capability. Doesn't appear to charge my Surface 3 as fast as the direct charging cable, but the difference isn't that much. A little on the heavy side, but with the trade off against all the other features I mentioned above, I can live with that. Inexpensive and very handy
Easy to use, handy for quickly docking to, (in my case) the living room Visio 43" via a separate mini video to HDMI cable. Reliable with USB 2 and 3 sockets. The only possible weakness is the headphone out jack. You will want to send this output to an amplified speaker like a flat screen TV sound bar. The dock audio output will drive external speakers, but barely, and using the Surface 3 internal speakers for greater volume while looking a a big screen is uncomfortable.
