Pros: Extends the Range of WIFI Signal Reception Strength of WIFI Signal better than internal antenna gets Individual antennae unscrew as removable if u want to upgrade Support base with cord are detachable from antenna if not needed WIFI antenna can be directly USB inserted (standalone) w/out support base Product does include an actual software drivers physical CD, installs flawlessly Arrived in immaculate outstanding condition, Excellent packaging and contents. Cons: Although lightweight is usually viewed as a plus it makes this item feel fragile. Also the light weight of product allows falling over sideways any slight table bumps Has Realtek adapter card. Not bad & works "okay". Would have preferred RaLink or Atheros. Realtek is the same brand of many internal wifi antennas. This is not a bottom of the bargain bin priced unit. So, a first-tier wifi network adapter provider is expected. The shipping was just within the specified expected time frame to arrive (very last day) Would I recommend this SELLER :: Yes Would I recommend this PRODUCT :: Yes Overall purchase experience :: 4 out of 5 possible Stars I definitely recommend this if you're on a budget but not a shoestring cheapskate budget. You can't get this for the same price as a USB single antenna you get that doesn't come with any drivers (at all) or extention cable and support base, etc etc.. It's also not a minor point that, in case you care to look it up at places I can't mention explicitly by name here, you can find upgrade antennas identical to the ones that are a part of this item. This product has antenna (2) rated at 5 dbi each. You can accquire identical antenna rated at 6 or 8, 10, 12, or even 15 dbi EACH to upgrade with later. So, the 4 Star rating here is that you get a pretty decent starter item out of the box, AND, because of it's form factor it's an ideal choice to upgrade/scale growth as well. Quite good; but needed a bit of fiddling
The unit implements a Realtec wifi chip. Windows 10 found and installed the drivers without issue-- Install disc not required. Once installed it did not connect to the ac side of my router automatically. 1. Open [Network Connections]-> 2. right click and pick wifi properties,and click the configure box. 3. choose the advanced tab. 4. find Preffered band -> pick 5 Ghz ( not too necessary ) 5. find the Wireless Mode line -> then choose ac mode >>Big caveat--the cradle is USB2, the adapter is usb3. --This is not an issue at internet speeds ( less than 100 Mbps ) --Full rated speeds ( Gigabit LAN ) will require a USB 3.0 cradle or direct attachment to your machines usb3 portVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

This works great
The software (driver installation too) is a bit clunky. But once installed and up and running, this baby works great. I have my pc in the bedroom, WiFi needs to go through two walls and a good 30 feet to get to me. Old WiFi dongle used to freeze up and drop Netflix or even gmail. Could never did get the software to install properly. Did download proper drivers. It did work one day without the proper download. It really brought the signal in great. Next day nothing except now my computer has bugs when trying to connect normally. Have to go into network settings to connect to wifi spot. Solved My Problem
I was looking for a more reliable connection from my basement in one corner of the house to the router on the second floor at the other corner. The AWUS036AC lives up to its "long range" name, as I'm now getting a very good signal level and close to the maximum throughput my router allows. great for linux distros
Many times with linux distros alfa wifi usb adapters are plug-n-play but it wasn't the case with this one but "no biggie". The Best Yet
I have a situation at the place I work where I have to use wifi for internet access and that is made difficult by the tall buildings downtown that make the signals weak and slow (slower than dial-up with a standard built in adapter) and unsecured.
