  • Great product for price!

Works great, and some people have said it was bigger than they thought. I felt it was much smaller than what I thought and smaller than the router it is replacing which it taller, and much wider. I haven't had any problems with it. Although it seems you cant do the more advanced features that other routers do, which I don't mess with those settings, but still, it would be nice if they were there. I'm disappointed Apple doesn't make these anymore. I use all Apple products, so it's nice that no problems with everything working together nicely.

  • Great Router!

Though it is an over 8 year old design, the 802.11ac, now called WiFi 5, used in this router is still every bit up to date and still the standard today. These routers do have one issue and it involves a glitch making the router think it’s overheating, but toggle the ‘File Sharing’ setting makes it disappear permanently and it never fails to work. I purchased this unit recently to add as a base station to an existing router that is the same model number that I’ve had to eight years and it’s worked great!

  • Fast, Versatile, and Functional!

This is the best router out there. Too bad Apple discontinued it. I am using this as the main router into my house. As seen in the picture, one of the 3 rear ports feeds a 16 port Gbit ethernet switch which goes to all the rooms in my house. The other 2 ports are used to feed directly to other Airport Extremes in the far ends of my house to extend the wifi network. I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase. I am currently seeing 950 Mbps speeds when hardlined to ethernet in my house and 130 Mbps over wifi.

  • Apple airport extreme

This product is great. Most routers do not operate in the DFS range of 5 GHZ . This router does open up unused 5GHZ range. Giving you an unused channel if is not used by radar or any other use. It also has the other channels for use by WiFi not used for radar on any other use. The signal it gives off is very strong. More power on some channels and less power in the DFS range to prevent interference on radar channels. It has 3 antennas to beam the signal . It is fastest in the AC 5GHZ range and slowest in 2.4 ghz range. The 2.4 reaching longest range. The 5GHZ being fastest reaching but far less range. It was easy to set up.set it up on a IOS device or on a windows computers by down loading a program from the internet.up dating firm ware was easy .There were more settings to play then a normal router has. This give you more control over the router then a normal consumer router. Closer to a enterprise router. The appearance is pleasing. The router will pick the best band for the device connecting to it or you can set up the two bands as separate radios. It is not heavy. About a little over 2 pounds. Will work as a AP point or as a full router minus modem. Needs a modem has everything else. Will be supported by Apple for the next 5 years. Over all the Apple router is a good value.

  • Still one of the best WiFi routers

I bought the AirPort Extreme to extend the coverage of my existing AirPort Time Capsule using the Gigabit port. The in-home roaming works just seamlessly. Perfect quality, stability, performance, trivial setup.

  • Airport extreme is cheap and extraordinary

With Apple moving away from networking products, the Airport Extreme has become cheap. It has always been extraordinarily easy to install and use. I am running at 160 Mb/s over wifi after installing last weekend. I was able to remove my older Airport extreme and the Airport express extender. Triple speed, greater distance, 802.11g and 802.11ac concurrently .. pretty good value.

  • Its usefulness is an understatement

Even if you have the latest Macbook, this router is the easiest way to add ANY USB backup drive for your Time Machine backups. The interface is intuitive, the connection as easy as it gets. Anyone can set it up. Buy yourself one especially if you're in the Apple ecosystem like myself. And who wouldn't want to be with them make things as easy peasy as it gets!!

  • Fast, reliable and simple to setup for Apple users.

Apple’s Airport was way ahead of its time and is simple to setup for Apple users compared to other brands of WiFi makers. The transmission speed is good enough to keep up with your internet connection. Even the with today’s internet speed!

  • Great Router

I know that Apple discontinued this product line, but I have had such a great experience with the AirPort routers that I decided to upgrade to this. First, it provides great reach. It easily covers all three levels of my house with a single unit. And it’s fast even with a couple dozen WiFi devices using it. And best of all, it is rock solid. I have never had an Apple AirPort product need a reboot because of “locking up” or whatever. The one I bought was used, with who knows how many hours of service on it. I’ll likely keep it in service until WiFi7 hits the market in 2028.

  • Awesome wireless routers from Apple

I have been an Apple Airport user since I was little. The latest generation uses wireless ac speeds and 5ghz dual band connectivity. When properly installed and set up, a clear channel on 5ghz at ac speeds should give wireless gigabit Ethernet. Pretty cool. Do some reading on the subject if you want to tweak things, but anything Apple is great right outside of the box. I’m a fairly sophisticated user, so I appreciate the advanced settings that the airport utility offers. I have one AirPort Extreme that I use as my router and that I have an ethernet switch plugged into it along with my wired devices from around the house. I have another AirPort Extreme on the far side of the house that’s plugged in on this switch that I use to extend the excellent WiFi network using wired ethernet. My wireless devices automatically connect to and switch to and from the AirPort Extreme that has the stronger signal no matter where the devices are in the house. You can walk around with your iPhone or laptop and it will go to the AirPort Extreme with the stronger signal as you walk around. Intrigued? Apple has guides online as to how to set this up, but the AirPort utility detects this and prompts you as to whether this is what you’re doing with the second AirPort Extreme on the same network. Awesome products as always. They’re still current and get updates, but they’ve been discontinued by Apple. I hope Apple brings them back
