Fired right up, no more points, Yes.
Best price I saw for this brand. Easy benchtop install with front mount distributor. Plastic insert that holds brass coil contact screw wasn't tapped, simple 8-32 tap fix. Hope it lasts a long time, you can't buy quality points anymore, tired of changing them.

The product is good, fits right into place and works. The only complaint is the very poor instructions. It needs to include that every tractor is different and will need to be static timed depending on the individual tractor. Also the holes that hold the sensor needs to be tapped, just because not everyone has access to taps. Other than that works like a dream and would recommend to anyone.

Great Upgrade for an Old Tractor - But Use CAUTION
This is a great upgrade from the points and condenser on these old 8N's. They are fairly easy to install, but I do have one huge warning: MAKE SURE YOUR TRACTOR IS WIRED PROPERLY! Many of these old 8N's were converted from 6V to 12V systems, and many were converted improperly. Mine certainly was. The old point and condenser systems are a bit more forgiving if the right amount of resistance is not in place between the alternator and distributor. These electronic ignition systems are much LESS forgiving and if you do not have them wired correctly they will prematurely fail. I found that out the hard way. Fortunately these old tractors are very simple to rewire and there are some really good diagrams and instructions out there online for free. There are also several good places to by the proper parts for these tractors. I just completed a full rewire and I have no electrical training whatsoever. Rewiring is also a good way to get to know your tractor. Once the tractor is wired properly and the Pertronix is installed, the tractor runs much better and is much more dependable.

Changing points on a front mount distributor is hard!
Changing points on a front mount distributor is a real pain, hopefully this will eliminate all that. It hasn't been on the tractor long enough to establish reliability. If this fails you are walking home! It took some doing and some J-B Weld to install and it will be "iffy" trying to set the timing. The backing plate needs to be redesigned. As it is installation requires "custom work". After all that it does run great!

Great upgrade for your tractor
Was easy to install....make sure you order the right voltage for your tractor! Lot of this old tractor has been converted to 12 volt systems. This is one of greatest upgrade you can do to these old tractor ! Way more reliable then the old point system! High recommend !

Unit has a crappy pot metal backing plate, if not for that I'd rate it excellent. The only thing I used was the new magnetic pick up. My 10 year old hardware was much better quality. Shame on Pertronix for going the "cheap" route.

You won't regret switching from points and frustration to electronic igniton.
I observed it on you tube. I tried it and easy to install, far better than points and condenser. My tractor fired up first thing and hasn't ran in 10 years. Easy installation and plenty of fire. I'm going to switch all my equipment over to it.
