This is a good watch to get away from battery powered watches. It seems to keep good time as long as it is wound. I learned that there are some Seiko models, like this one, that do NOT have a manual wind option. Only motion can wind it, requiring a watch winder if you don't wear it all day. I should have researched a little more.

Lots to love about this watch at this price point. Dial and hands look great. It loses the fifth star because of the cheap bracelet and no hand-winding feature.

When I unboxed it, I was not as thrilled as I thought I would be from the youtube videos on it out there. But now, a few days in wearing it, I absolutely love it! Very very nice looking watch that grows on you.

Best all-around watch under $500, bar none. It’s all about the case and beautiful dial. Newer Seiko 5’s don’t have the same “magic” as this. “Made in Japan” on the J1 dial is a neat touch.
