Our daughter requested this movie for Christmas - so, OF COURSE, I checked eBay! It didn't arrive until the day after Christmas but that was okay with her to get a Christmas present the next day! We watched it together as a family and really enjoyed it. There were a few times that it was a bit unbelieveable but we enjoyed the movie - the turncoat at the end was a complete surprise (the first time). The girls call this their "sleepover" movie - all their friends (teenagers) enjoy this movie as well and this movie has probably been watched 10 times between Christmas a the first week of February! Good, clean family movie - no bad language or questionable scenes - the lady principal could have worn more appropriate clothing in the final scenes.
I love Vin Diesel as an action hero, so when I saw the preview of a buff action hero playing dress up in a bottle fanny pack; I had to see it! It is hilarious! The plot synopsis of a family in an emotional rollercoaster from losing a parent comes full circle when Vin Diesel puts everyone in place! Without being too harsh or dominating, he builds a close bond with the children helping them make a 360 in both their attitudes towards others, and most importantly their attitudes with themselves. If you want an uplifting movie about family that shows there still are families out there that care for one another and enjoy spending time as a family, this is the movie for you....if not...you are missing out!
I live by one rule in my life... NEVER support Vin Diesel - easily the worst actor of this generation. Vin Diesel is simply awful - he can't act, he can't speak and he certainly isn't fit for a role in any family / children's movie. The Pacifier is a lame attempt at Arnold Schwarzenegger's success in Kindergarten Cop (great movie) , Hulk Hogan in Mr Nanny (funny and fun), Sinbad in House Guest, etc. Vin Diesel doesn't have the charm of any of these other guys and the movie is a failure.
Fantastic Flick where Hero saves Half-sized Humans from Harm! We love it!
I adore this movie for its humor and for the family ideals that are incorporated into the script. All of the actors do a great job...the young ones are adorable, and Vin's comedic timing is perfect. I bought it because I simply couldn't stand watching it on TV any more (too many commercials!!).
I do not have children of my own, so I cannot provide a review from a mother's viewpoint...however, I do know that kids like watching other children do or live through extraordinary things in "the real world" setting, and that's precisely what this movie provides in its story for kids in a variety of ranges.
I like to think of this movie in the same genre as The Toothfairy, starring The Rock. Both have very macho men who have to slowly get in touch with their inner-father so that they can help the children in their lives. Its a great message for kids to watch that happen...knowing that these big time stars can actually (at least in the movies anyway) do the right thing when it comes to being there for them...not to mention a message many kids really need to hear because its NOT happening in their own lives.
All in all...this is a fantastic movie for children and has maintained that status since it came out 5-years ago.Read full review
I love this movie. My parents kept promising to buy it for me, but I finally gave up and decides to buy it myself. I would consider this movie a classic.
Vin Diesel plays the part of (Navy Seal) guardian/nanny when the father has been kidnapped and the mother is trying to help the government get him back. The kids don't want a guardian and make life miserable for "the pacifier" but it all comes together with kids loving "the pacifier" and the parents get home too. Funny Asian bad guys and Gary the duck. You'll like this one.
