NotesA new lineup, powered by the great Cozy Powell on drums, helped Ritchie Blackmore and Ronnie James Dio soar with their second Rainbow LP ('76). Tony Carey does some dazzling keyboard work here, too, as you hear the awesome epic "Stargazer" plus "Starstruck," "Tarot Woman," "Run with the Wolf," "Do You Close Your Eyes" and another sprawling song that closes the album, "A Light in the Black." The dark fantasy themes, the storming heavy-metal assaut, it all comes together right here on import vinyl! Universal UK.

  • Dio, Blackmore, Stargazer. Need I say more?

Good heavyweight vinyl. Plays wonderfully on my low budget turntable. Priced the same or less than many of the used copies available on the market.

  • Worth the price for Stargazer alone! One of the crowning achievements by both Dio and Blackmore.

I generally prefer to collect the vintage records, not because the sound is better in my estimation, but because I like to have the physical object that was made in the year of its' original release and has been circulating through time and space ever since. That being said, one really can't deny the quality and superior resonance of the 180 gram vinyl. And with an album like Rainbow: Rising, you will appreciate the difference on a nice phonograph player.
