Better than I expected, but not as good as my old Panasonic
Cute and small unit. The Wifi internet access via apps is rather sluggish compared to my computer. I have slow internet (3mb) so maybe that's why. But I'm happy with the slow motion, fast play, .both backwards and forwards and the remote control has a good layout than another Chinese brand that I also got but not as good as my old Panasonic DVD player. The Sony upscaling of DVD and BluRay look fine on my TV. The memory of the previous place on a DVD works but my old Panasonic remembered multiple DVDs whereas the Sony only remembers one (as far as I can tell.) Plus it is annoying that it takes you to the Youtube app selection instead of the DVD -- i.e. you need extra presses to get to where you were when you were last using the machine. I'm not sure but it seems that you have to press STOP or else it doesn't remember where you were. My old Panasonic was much better in all these respects -- smarter well laid out remote, better memory for previous plays, and more precise slow and fast motion, plus it had a built in display that showed where you were on the DVD -- the Sony only shows that on the TV screen, when you press the DISPLAY button. The Panasonic had enough front panel buttons to play a DVD without needing the remote -- so don't lose the remote!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Great player, mediocre remote
This BDP-3700 was chosen after some spec comparison and review reading. The initial unit was open box and worked well but the remote had been swapped out for one with leaking battery damage, so both were returned. The second unit was new and worked perfectly. After a simple install the player was up and all focus turned to the remote button layout and GUI for user experience. I will say for the disk playing; it works well, the image and audio are excellent. But the transport buttons on the remote are awkward and simple tasks like hitting pause take some effort to locate and perform. The buttons lacks tactile ID and they blend together. To compound this he main control buttons (Top Menu, Pop up Menu, Return, Options) seem to be mislabeled or at least don't follow reason. They can be learned but the remote could do with overall increased button spacing, better grouping and labeling. The Streaming controls like Netflix or Youtube work well but the latency is much longer than say a Roku interface. The button press to response can take seconds. One nice feature that I do enjoy is when Youtube is paused, and you come back in several hours, your show is still cued up ready to play. On Roku a pause will timeout and you then have to navigate back to the show and where you left off. I find it most convenient to keep both streaming controllers hooked up to make bouncing easier. Overall the player would get a 5 but the remote only a 3. But it's compact and works, I'd buy it again.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great BD player, apps are okay.
Plays disc well, apps are ok, but not as nice as Roku. Remote is small, would like it better if it had more space between buttons for larger fingers. It has on/off and Input, and Volume select for TV; it could almost replace the TV remote if it had Channel select. The Zoom feature is only accessible through menu, it would be nice if it was a direct button like my Sony TV remote. WiFi eliminated the Cat 5 cable; great for RV park use & 12v
Plugged it in to wall & TV. Turned it on. Followed instructions to connect to WiFi. Signed on to Prime & within minutes picked up on watching a movie & had paused on my older wired Sony DVD. Super player
After 3 weeks, works perfect. One interesting thing is that I've got a Vizeo LED display (42"), and when I start up the DVD (also blu-ray), it automatically switches toe LED display to link with the DVD -- kind of neat. As with most DVDs, takes a while (30 seconds maybe -- didn't time it) to get the disk loaded and the program running. Remote controller is small (good), and has all the right functions in easy to use position. I like the single frame at a time feature (most DVD players I think have that feature). Also like the advanced frame feature -- hit once, it jumps a couple of seconds at a time, keep hitting it and it increases the number of frames it jumps -- very easy to use. Really like the controller. Note: when installing the hdmi cable, make sure that you give it a good push into the back connector. Easy to put it in light and nothing works. So far, so good
I'm really enjoying this Sony blu-ray player. It's my first blu-ray so I didn't need, or even want, something super fancy. It's easy to navigate and the picture quality is great. I was most excited about having access to my VUDU account since that's where I have all of my digital films. I'm slowly starting to branch out and explore some of the other available apps and have found a few I really enjoy. I took off one star because some of these apps load pretty slowly. This isn't something that really bothers me since I ultimately won't use most of them, but I imagine it is something that would annoy others. IT is small and the picture quality is great........
I knew that there was a different player for DVD's that required the use of a special "Blu-Ray" machine. I had a few of those special discs, but came to find out that they would not play on my regular DVD machine. So, I went looking for a "Blu-Ray" player that I could afford, and via of "E-Bay" I was lucky enough to find one. Once I learn how to get it hitched up to my Surround Sound, I know that I am really going to enjoy this new Sony Blu-Ray Player. I am so grateful to "E-Bay" for helping me get the machine that I wanted at the price that I could afford. I am so happy with this new device. It is so compact compared to my regular machine, that plays only DVD's. But I am glad that I do have both items. The next time I am interested in purchasing something special, I will definitely check out what is on line on "E-Bay" before I go out to the Department Stores. Sony is the only way to go... WARNING NOT LG !
After buying a NEW LG BP350 WIFI DVD player from Best Buy getting it all setup just to have to constantly waiting for it to buffer in Netflix. If that was not painful enough to endure, the LG then would crash - freeze up multiple times after waiting and waiting for a movie to sync with the audio. So I bought this Sony WIFI DVD, and a second one for my Mother... just a night and day difference in my sanity level. SONY system works flawlessly, better picture quality and remote response is great. No buffering with the Sony and no crashes using the same internet setup and carrier service. Sony had Netflix and Amazon apps pre-loaded, plus a few other less known apps that are turning out to be used as much or more than the "popular" apps I wanted to begin with on a player. LG needs to TEST there players, this was my second attempt going with LG player in last 4 years and my last.
