EA's annual soccer series returns with a host of gameplay tweaks in FIFA 17. In-game adjustments include greater set-piece customization and control, an AI system with new run types and better spatial awareness, more physical battles for space and possession, and new attacking techniques like threaded through passes and downward headers. As always, real teams and players from around the world are available to control, with Japan's J1 League making its debut. The card-collecting Football Ultimate Team mode returns with new squad-building challenges, new legendary players, and new kits. The FUT Champions mode offers daily knockout tournaments in which users can earn in-game awards and qualify for the weekend league, with weekend wins helping them raise their ranking, and for the first time in the series, players can download their FUT squad for local offline matches.
