Logitech Harmony 650 remote is terrific
Logitech recently discontinued the Harmony remote products, but eBay to the rescue! This is a great remote -- it's easy to select your devices and set up "activities". It's also a "learning" remote, so you can teach it any devices it doesn't already know (and it has a -huge- database available). It had the Options key for my TV wrong, and I was able to re-learn it in less than a minute. Uses a standard micro-USB cable, software is on their site. Replacement Harmony 650 remote.
This Harmony 650 remote came sooner than expected and it looks like it is brand new. This remote is replacing a heavily used Harmony 650, that was working ok, but a lot of the button markings have worn off. I used the programing from Logitech, that I used to program the old remote, to program the new remote, and 30 seconds later it was good to go. It does everything as claimed, and seems to have very device known to man in it's setup database. You will need a Windows computer with a USB port. Excellent remote
So, there really aren't many universal remotes on the market now, at least in an affordable range. I've used the 650 for years and love the remote however, the buttons can stop functioning as the remote ages. They do make kits to refurbish the remote that are really easy (and cheap) to install. I purchased this one used, it was in excellent condition and then applied the refurbishing kit. The website to download the programing software is pretty easy to use. For roughly $80 (includes kit) I have a like new universal remote - can't beat that. Note, dropping the remote can cause it to miss function but just remove a battery for 20-30 seconds - allow to reset and it should work fine.
