All in all, this reel is well built for the price. It's main selling point in the advertisement is that it is supposed to be easier to cast a long distance or with lighter lures. I have found it to be neither. I have been using bait casting reels since the early 1980's and to me the king of easy long distance or light lure casting remains the Abu Garcia Ultramag series from the late 1980's. The new line guide level wind design is unique and would lead to better casting if the spool friction knob didn't have to be tightened to an almost full state to avoid bird nests when casting negating it's benefits. The reel turns very smoothly and the spool is easy to access without taking the reel fully apart, the drag is adequate for everything from pan fishing to walleye to channel catfishing. If you're looking at this as your first bait casting reel, I would look at something more traditional due to the spool friction knob adjustment issue, but for an experienced person looking for a cheap back up reel to their main bait caster, this will do the job.Read full review

This reel doesn’t cast as easy as they say, as a matter of fact it’s very difficult to cast. It appears that there will be a great learning curve, it took me about half an hour to even get a decent cast from it. It also will backlash and get tangled up very easily. I don’t recommend it for inexperienced fisherman. I may try some braided line and see if it improves any, but right now I’m definitely disappointed.

So far so good. I spent one day out on the lake with this reel and it delivered just as advertised. Easy to adjust and had only one backlash during adjustment period. Once I found my setting, the reel performed well all day.
