  • bad assembly instructions

The video was incorrect and following it will not work!! There was no instructions on how to assemble drive in case. Also one of the little black tabs was broken off and loose in the box. I did not think anything of this at the time. When I first assembled by sliding the drive into the case it did not work. When I had it out of the case it worked. So I split the case and looked inside. I saw a tab that went between the board and drive. I tried this and it worked in half of the case. When I put it together again it stopped working. Then I used the broken tab in the box. I put this between the board and drive and it worked in the box. I spent over 5 hours to get this to work. A simple instruction on how to assemble would have save me hours. Important both tabs must be between board and drive. 1. Split box in two. 2. Insert drive in bottom half making sure tabs are between board and drive. 3. Put top on. 4. Insert screws and tighten. 5. Change face plate as needed. good luck!

  • Buy, buy, buy!!!

If you need extra storage for your files and have some old sata hard drives kicking around collecting dust then I would suggest you pick up a few of these to put those old hard drives back into commission. Great product at a great price and would love buy some more for my other hard drives for more added file storage.

  • Power problems

When I try to use the enclosure with my hard drive, the power does not want to come on. If you wiggle it you can get the power on. Wait a few seconds and it disconnects. The computer will not recognize it. I have Windows 7. Very frustrating as the external disc has iotems that I need.

  • A great convenience in keeping old HDD info accessible.

This enclosure allowed me to take the hard drive from my old computer and access it through the USB port whenever I needed it. It is easy to set up, and saved me a lot of work attempting to copy all the files to my new computer. It didn't do well when I tried to run some of the programs, but I didn't need it for this. I haven't tried to write files to the old drive either, but I assume that will work.

  • Awesome value for a great unit

Just what I needed. Couldn't have been easier to set up. Highly recommended. Turns any SATA hard disk into an external drive.

  • External drive enclosure

Excellent buy for the price. It workers well for a once a week backup. The only thing wrong with it is, there are no assembly instructions. How to mount the drive inside the enclosure takes some thinking.

  • Easy to assemble. Easy to use.

Just what I needed. I have enclosures in the same style for my 2.5 in drives. Looks great. Works great. Love the fact that it has a power switch and separate power cord instead of using another USB port. Now I can use it with my router as backup storage for my home network.

  • Not functioning.

I may have received a damaged unit. The power supply is 12 volts at 2 Amps. The board will talk to the computer but does not spin the hard drive so there is no data transfer. I used a universal drive adaptor and the HD worked perfectly. But not in the SATA Case. The case came in a box and not protected by packing. I am trying to determine if the circuit board was cracked in shipping.

  • Works exactly as described.

All good. The hard drive only goes in one way. Put it together, plug it into your computer, plug in the power cable.....all set. I took the hard drive froma dead computer, put all my music on it (over 1000 cd's) plugged it into the computer attached to my home theater/sound system and now i have all my music on demand, playing throughout my home. Life is good. Especially good if you can recycle hardware for $20 and make it work.

  • UNRELIABLE, SUB-STANDARD CIRCUIT-BOARD

Garbage-quality circuit. Only enough power for a 2.5" SATA but not for a 3.5" SATA. The supplied wall transformer is not the problem. It's just a very cheap circuit board. Less-expensive external 3.5" SATA drives work far better than this one.
