this is a great product that does excellently the work it is designed for. To use it, you can lay it on the track (as it has contacts underneath to pick up power) or you can power it by means of the cable you see in the picture, then you put an engine on the divise (wheels on the white surfaces) and apply power to have the engine run. You can apply cleaning fluid (for instance, isopropyl alcohol). Running the locomotive here will have will clean the wheels as they rotate on these white surfaces, specially if cleaning fluid is applied. An excellent product.

I’ve used one for my larger HO for years and it works amazing. The N scale version however is nearly too short for all of my locomotives and very cantankerous. It takes a bit of wiggling and sliding to make contact and then if you get the wheels spinning, the exposed gears on the bottom of steam locos catch on the center plastic rail. It does as advertised and cleans well once you get it going properly

It's a bit difficult to use. Contact to engine wheels is touchy to actually get power and keep the loco wheels moving. The pads don't always make contact to the wheel surface without moving the loco back and forth and side to side. These motions often results in loss of electrical contact to the loco. My old powered "wire brush" thing works much better.

It can be used with different power sources and with all locomotives and rolling stock.

A very useful item for cleaning my n-scale model train wheels without removing them from the cars or engines. Works as described and easy to use .I cant believe I waited so long to get one.
